Recruitment for Spring Season 2025 

A SAR Philharmonic Orchestra 

(SARPO’s) Collaboration

Dear alumni member, 

Following the two  successful “Beethoven Symphony No. 9” with SARPO’s in 2023, we are delighted to join forces with SARPO’s again in the upcoming choral presentation of 

"Requiem in D minor, Op. 48" by Gabriel Fauré! 

Known for its calm and serene melodies, Fauré’s Requiem offers a unique and comforting perspective on the theme of eternal rest. Unlike traditional Requiem settings that emphasize dramatic intensity, Fauré’s composition stands out for its soothing harmonies and gentle transitions. The choir will explore the lyrical beauty of movements such as the tender "Pie Jesu," which expresses a heartfelt plea for peace, and the ethereal "In Paradisum," which leaves audiences with a sense of upliftment and tranquility.

Dr. Lesley Chan, our music director voluntarily offers his time and expertise in coaching and uplifting the choral performance of HKUAA Choir, the dedication of whom we are most grateful! 

Details of the concert as follows: 

• Date of two concerts: April 20, 2025 Sunday 

              April 21, 2025 Monday

• Venue of performance: HK Cultural Center Concert Hall 
• Time : In the evening (tbc) 

Similar to previous  “Beethoven Symphony No. 9” concerts, we will be performing with other choirs. 

• Audition (only for newcomers/ those who have not taken any audition with Dr. Chan): 

December 7, 2024 (Saturday 3:00-4:30 pm at HKUAA Clubhouse ) 

• Rehearsal Schedule of Spring Season 2025: 

January 4 Saturday first rehearsal

January 11, 18 

February 8, 15, 22

March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

April 5, 12, 19

• Total: 14 rehearsals at HKUAA Clubhouse on every Saturdays 3:00-4:30 pm

Extra rehearsal with SARPO’s and with other choirs will be advised

• Subscription fees: $1080.00 per person 

Discount Offer: HKU first degree holders from 2018 onwards will enjoy a 50% discount of the subscription fee.
